Prince Edward Primary School, Sheffield

OFSTED say, "Strong relationships and well organised learning environments help pupils to enjoy their learning."

Prince Edward Primary School serves the Manor community of Sheffield. Many of our children come from highly deprived backgrounds and children start our nursery well below national averages. There are approximately 330 pupils at our school from three years old to eleven years old. Here at Prince Edward we strive to provide the very best for our children, offering them safety, warmth, nurture, care and guidance, clear boundaries, belief and high expectations. We are an inclusive school and soon, in 2015, we will be able to provide our children with a brand new school, with modern facilities in an environment which they truly deserve.

We are a committed, caring and dedicated team who aim to offer the pupils and families of Prince Edward the very best. Our high standards and expectations have a sustained and proven track record. Pupils at the end of Key Stage 2 make better than expected progress in both English and Maths; and level 5 attainment for two years has been higher than National Averages in Maths and for the first time in line in Reading this year. In Key Stage 1, our 2013 results are the best ever and are now broadly in line nationally.

2012 SATs   2013 SATs
      Reading 67% L4, 33% L5
English 80% L4, 10% L5   Writing 81% L4, 11% L5

Our success is due to our high quality teaching and learning, keeping our curriculum relevant for the children, our cutting-edge marking and teacher feedback, closely monitoring and evaluating everything that we do in order to improve; and keeping our staff team motivated, well trained, supported, empowered and highly skilled. We have a very experienced Senior Leadership Team who have been providing excellent support, training and guidance to trainee students and NQTs for many years. We coach all our teachers to be confident leaders too and our RQTs and NQTs have led professional development sessions and even shared our good practise among other colleagues in the city.

"I am very lucky to be part of this talented team. Everyone plays to their strengths and the support I have had is second to none. I have worked alongside outstanding practitioners and have acquired invaluable skills, expertise, training, support; and all this has been wrapped up with a strong sense of team spirit and belonging."
NQT September 2012 - July 2013.
